THE HISTORY OF OUR TUNER WEBSITE

The Tuner Car movement has its roots in the hot rod craze of the 1950’s and ‘60’s.  The drag racing phenomenon eventually led to the popularity of import cars for street racing and collecting – and ultimately, the TOKYO RODS® concept. In April of 2000, the founder’s teenage daughter commented on the number of cool little imports and the highly styled personalization of these cars. A hot rod enthusiast himself, he took notice and quickly coined the phrase “Tokyo Rods”.  The idea of a Tuner website with a classified Japanese Hot Rod listing was born.
